i'll go into more detail sorry. do you know the noise that was meant to keep teenagers from loitering around shops. it is really high pitched. well only under 30 year olds are meant to hear it but some people who are over 30 can hear it. why is this?
What's that? You'll have to speak up! There's a terrible high pitched ringing noise! I can't hear you! What's that? Am I over thirty? What's that got to do with anything? There's an awful high pitched ringing noise, I can't hear a word you're saying! How terrible! Bloody public nuisance that's what that is! Noise pollution! Is that actually allowed?!?!?
Seriously though, are they allowed to do that? I'd have thought it would play havoc with animals and might even be damaging to babies ears and stuff. Why don't they just use the law to get the police to issue the brats with a dispersal order?
i know what you mean, i had a cat deterrent thingy, which gave out a similar noise, had to switch it off as it hurt my ears, i can also hear that sound and i'm 37
I didn't know about this, but my daughter is always complaining about a high pitched noise set up as security outside a shop on the way to school, if we ever pass she says listen, but we never hear it (in our 40's).
It is true that the upper range of your hearing fails as you get older so maybe you're lucky! My mum bought a high pitched fox/cat detterent for her back garden and couldn't hear it at all. She ditched it in the end as every time I went round there I thought it was really loud ans it would drive me bonkers!
I bought a pest control device that's supposed to get rid of mice by emitting a high-pitched sound that humans can't hear - unfortunately, I could hear it clearly and actually found it painful to be near...and it was government-approved as being safe and inaudible to humans and everything!
