Just got around to catching up on the recordings of this and notice that Dr Ian lost his quarter-final so wont, despite what some people have said, be the overall winner ( also noticed he was on the winneing team this week in Only Connect on BBC 4 ) . I think that Pat Gibson will turn out to be the winner. Also, am I the only one getting really fed up with Dermot repeating the question immediately after reading out the options for the answers? There is no need for it, neither is there any need for his saying ''... so don't put all your eggheads in one basket '' as he does in every show. Finally, it is rather pleasing to notice that when the eggheds are asked for their thoughts as to what the correct answer is in the final round, that more often than not they start their reply by saying that they aren't really sure, but if it was my question then I would .etc. I actually prefer this programme to the normal eggheads show, apart from Dermot as I prefer Jeremy Vine as a presenter.
Osprey I agree with you. Jeremy Vine usually gets up my nose but he can be quite sarcy with some of them, which they need now and again but I have been saying for ages that in the usual episode of eggheads, not the "find a new egghead" version, they should ask both teams the same questions, that way u dont get the situation whereby the guest team has to name how many hairs on santas beard while the eggheads get asked who was the only british female prime minister. Do you think??
Am I mistaken or was Dr Ian on Mastermind this week and won the round? Personally I am pleased he is not in contention for the Egghead race now, I found him irritably smug.
