I thought I would start a separate thread on the situation in Ukraine as several of the other related threads are getting a bit fractious and have long since deviated from the original question.
That isn't a criticism: it's human nature and shows we're free to argue.
This man was miraculously pulled from his car in Obolon (N Kyiv) after it was steamrollered by a Russian tank. The "denazification" process continues (!)

Yes although I am a bit miffed the veracity of my link was called in question. I'm well aware of the fakes.
There have been a few on Russian mainstream TV in the leadup to war, which were almost laughable.
eg: a report that a border post on the Russian side of the border had been shelled by Ukraine. It was accompanied by footage of a rather sorry-looking shed in the middle of some trees.
Then there was the poor man who'd lost his leg after being hit by a Russian shell. on close inspection it was clear he had a prosthesis that had been conveniently removed.
My favourite: Ukraine's "battle plans" for attacking the separatist regions, miraculously captured: all in Russian,
All this would be funny were it not so tragic.

"I can’t imagine taking or going into an underground tube station to save my life. "
Many of the stations, especially in Kyiv, are among the deepest in the world: they were originally built to double as nuclear bomb shelters, ironically.
I think Arsenal metro station is the deepest and Kreshchatyk has one of the world's longest escalators (I can personally vouch that it's a contender!)

CNN is not trustworthy at all.
//news goes through verification procedures.//
Yes, we have seen that over the past few years. It is verified to ensure it matches the particular channels agenda.
Unfortunately, as I have said before, truth is always the first casualty of war.
And I'm not saying I dont believe your link Ick, I am pretty sure things like that must be happening all over Ukraine at the moment.

The difference between the two is that when it is done eg by the Kremlin, it's one of the aims
"Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible"
That's even the title of a book on Russian media.
You poison the truth with lies everyone knows are lies.
That's a bit different admittedly from clever fakes by nobodies with clever software and google in dark bedrooms
