Saint Simeon, Big Sur, Carmel (Pebble Beach), the Monterrey Peninsular and its Aquarium (whales blowing offshore), Half Moon Bay, The Redwood Forests, ..... plenty to see - how long is a piece of string
Napenthe Restaurant at Big Sur (more for the views) - and just under it, on the bend, is a small cafe that does the most amazing Eggs "Benedict" - muffin, spinach, thick steak tomatoes and a fab Hollandaise.
the Coastal Drive at Pebble Beach (9 mile Drive I think it is called is amazing to see the huge houses and spectacular views - it does cost something. You can lose 1/2 a day/day in Carmel with the shopping and the Golf (more shopping)...full of small shops and cafes.
Plenty of places to stay - depends on your budget.
Ha - I had a colleague who once tried to fly to Monterey in California, DT - and was startled to find himself landing in Monterrey, Mexico. He blamed his secretary, as one does.
